Ready for fest of sea's best

September 09, 2005

Organizers of the Maryland Seafood Festival spent the week scurrying around like crabs to set up tent poles, construct stages, put up signs and organize volunteers for the annual bash at Sandy Point State Park.

The festival is expected to attract 18,000 to 20,000 people and raise roughly $250,000 for charities.

Non-seafood aspects of the event include bands and children's activities: "There is a beach bubble station [for kids] ... I don't even know what that is!" festival spokeswoman Clare G. Vanderbeek said.

The festival runs from 11 a.m. today through Sunday.
