UM's Jackson earns ACC honor

Senior linebacker named co-defensive lineman of the week for efforts against Navy

Maryland senior linebacker D'Qwell Jackson was named co-recipient of this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week award after matching a career high with 18 tackles in the Terps' 23-20 win over Navy last Saturday in Baltimore.

Jackson, who received the award three times last season, had nine solo stops and also added a sack against the Midshipmen. He shared the honor wih Florida State defensive end Kamerion Wimbley.

Other ACC honorees were Wake Forest running back Micah Andrews (offensive back), Georgia Tech tackle Brad Honeycutt (offensive line), Virginia Tech safety Aaron Rouse (defensive back), Clemson kicker Jad Dean (special teams) and Clemson running back James Davis (rookie).

Maryland plays host to Clemson on Saturday at noon.
