Taustin, Ruth

September 05, 2005

On Saturday, 3, 2005, RUTH TAUSTIN, a gentle lady who always had a smiling face for everyone, died peacefully at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD, after a long illness. Born in New York, Ruth had lived in New Castle, DE and the Baltimore MD before settling in Ocean City in the harly 1070's with her sister Lillian. She will be remembered by many as the "Candy Kitchen Lady" having spent many years working behind the counter of the Candy Kitchen on Dorcester Street and then at the 28th Street shopping center. Ruth loved to knit - years ago she was a member of the Pins and Needles Club of Ocean City and she was often asked by our local nursing homes to make lap blankets and knitted footsie for the residents. Friends and relatives have been recipients of her sweaters, hats, scarves and blankets over the years. Ruth was also an avid sports fan - a visitor to her house would find her enjoying a tennis match or a golf game on TV...and she knew the names of all the players. But Ruth didn't just sit on the sidelines watching. She wasn't afraid to get into a go cart adn race around her brother-in-law Sam Tausin' lawn in West Ocean City. She loved bowling with the Ocean City Bowling League and won trophies over the years. Card games with the senior Card Sharks and bingo where also high on her list of favorite activities at the Senior Citizen Center where she went everyday to be with her friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone. Ruth was devoted to her children Jay Taustin of Ocean City and Susan Antigone of Washington, DC. She was mother-in-law to Cheryl Taustin and Chris Antigone and the loving grandmother of Khari, Cole and Kyle Taustin and Logan and Taryn Antigone. Ruth is also survived by Richard and Patti Leiner and Arlene Advocat of Ocean City, by Joe and Honey Goydas of New York; Bruce and Cindy Leiner, Mark and Donna Leiner, Jenny Advocat and Christina Diane Goydas. She is survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Gifs of condolence may be made to the Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD.
