Teen fatally stabbed in fight outside Marley Station mall

A 17-year-old Glen Burnie youth was fatally stabbed Saturday night and another youth was charged with murder after a fight between two groups of teenagers erupted outside Marley Station mall, Anne Arundel County police said.

The two teenagers were in the parking lot of the mall off Ritchie Highway - each with a group of five or six people - when words were exchanged and a fight ensued about 9:15 p.m., said police Lt. David Waltemeyer.

Kevin Michael Weingart of the 1000 block of Seventh St. was stabbed once in the upper torso, and pronounced dead about 11 p.m. after being flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Brandon Ian Kellam, 16, of the 8900 block of Twin Ridge Drive, Glen Burnie, was arrested and charged as an adult with second-degree murder, police said.

Waltemeyer said it remains undetermined if the teenagers knew each other.

No one else has been charged, but Waltemeyer said the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information was urged to call the department's homicide unit at 410-222-3428.
