Sponsors of the eighth annual Jones Falls Valley Celebration scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 18, are seeking volunteers to help with various activities that include a 15-kilometer bicycle race and 5-mile run.

Volunteers will be asked to work in shifts starting at 6 a.m. and ending about 2:30 p.m. People are needed to help set up events, register race participants, run children's activities and work with vendors and exhibitors.

The event takes place near the Cold Spring Lane ramp onto the northbound Jones Falls Expressway. Parking is available at Poly-Western High School.

The celebration is designed to remind people of the beauty and restoration needs of the Jones Falls that flows beneath the elevated highway. Six miles of the northbound lanes of the JFX will be closed to traffic for the event, allowing people to walk, bike and skateboard.
