St. Paul's United Methodist Church will offer Praise and Play for children from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays starting this week.

FOR THE RECORD - A notice in the Sunday Carroll County section contained incorrect information on the Honey Harvest Festival to be held Sept. 11. The festival will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bear Branch Nature Center, 300 John Owings Road. Activities will include beekeeping demonstrations and related events only. There will be no breakfast brunch, children's activities, folk music or crafts. There is no admission or parking fee for the honey festival or the Carroll Carvers Festival of Carving, also scheduled at the nature center Saturday and Sunday. For information, call 410-848-2517.

Event to honor pastor leaving Eldersburg
Faith Lutheran Church in Eldersburg will hold a luncheon today in honor of Pastor James Stoltenberg and his wife, Judy, who will be moving to a new church.
After 13 years of service to the congregation, Stoltenberg will become pastor of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Hanover, Mass.
The couple began their ministry at Faith Lutheran on Sept. 4, 1992.

Church to offer ALPHA series on Saturdays
Faith Lutheran Church will offer ALPHA, a practical, nondenominational approach to Christianity, this fall.
The free 10-week series will be held at the church, 1700 St. Andrews Way in Eldersburg, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 14.
Programs begin with supper, followed by a video presentation and large- and small-group interaction. Child care will be provided, if needed.
ALPHA includes a local Saturday daytime retreat. Adults interested in learning more about the Christian faith or strengthening their faith are welcome.

Yard sale Sept. 17 at carnival grounds
The Ronnie Legore Activities Park will hold a giant yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Gamber & Community Volunteer Fire Company carnival grounds, Route 32 and Niner Road.
Spaces are available in two sizes: 10 feet by 10 feet for $20, and 20 feet by 20 feet for $30.

Hydrant flow tests set for Sykesville/Freedom
The Carroll County Bureau of Utilities will conduct hydrant flow tests between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Sykesville/Freedom District, weather permitting.
Area subdivisions and streets that will be affected are Benjamin's Claim, Hunter's Crossing, Bennett and Oklahoma roads, Oklahoma Road and Stillwater, Bennett and Pawtucket roads, Londontown Boulevard, Melville and Oakland Mills roads, and Springfield Hospital.
Residents in the affected areas may experience minimum loss of pressure and cloudy water lasting up to an hour after testing. It is advisable to refrain from using high-water-volume appliances during periods of low pressure and cloudy water.

Cramwood hires Plain Jane to build a rocket to carry his frog into space. But the rocket doesn't work and he takes her to science court. Youths will build a balloon rocket to learn how rockets fly. "Make a Handcrafted Pumpkin Card" at 2 p.m. Saturday for teens and adults. Participants will make a quilted note card with a pumpkin theme. Materials will be provided; no sewing or quilting experience is required. Registration is required.

`Gorey Stories' production opens Sept. 11
The Mount Airy Players will present Gorey Stories, a musical based on the artwork and stories of Edward Gorey, on Friday, Saturday and Sept. 11, 15, 16 and 17 at the Frederick Cultural Arts Center, 15 W. Patrick St., Frederick.
All shows are at 8 p.m., except for a 3 p.m. matinee Sept 11.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for students and seniors. Group rates are available for eight or more people.
