Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from state and local police and sheriff's reports in Carroll County.

Eldersburg

Attempted robbery: A woman leaving the Wal-Mart in the 1300 block of Liberty Road at about 9 p.m. Aug. 16 told Trooper Deborah L. Zittel that she was followed to her car by two men in a white 2004 Hyundai Elantra. She said the driver got out and demanded her purse, grabbing it from her and knocking her to the ground when she refused. Several witnesses said they had seen the car being driving around the lot suspiciously. One man tried to stop the vehicle, and another obtained a tag number. A 27-year-old Walkersville man was later charged with attempted robbery, second-degree assault and attempted theft.

Theft: The Home Depot store in the 1300 block of Londontowne Blvd. reported that a chain saw was stolen Sept. 1, according to the sheriff's office.

Finksburg

Theft: A black purse containing a Social Security card and a bank statement was taken from the open driver's-side window of a red 1998 Ford Contour while it was parked in the 1500 block of Deer Park Road between noon and 3:45 p.m. Aug. 21, according to state police.

Hampstead

Vandalism: The owner-manager of Pizza Boli in the North Carroll Plaza, 2300 Hanover Pike, told state police that someone threw an empty beer bottle through the 8-by-4-foot front glass window between 11 p.m. July 31 and noon Aug. 1, causing about $250 in damage.

Henryton

Theft: Two brown Camping World reclining chairs valued at $520 were stolen from underneath a trailer at a camp site at the equestrian center in the 800 block of Henryton Road between Aug. 22 and 24, according to state police.

Manchester area

Theft: Several solar lights valued at $100 were stolen from the lawn of a home in the 2700 block of Overlook Court between Aug. 19 and 26, according to the sheriff's office.

New Windsor area

Theft: Someone stole the front Maryland license plate from a red 1997 Ford F-250 pickup truck parked at a residence in the 1800 block of New Windsor Road between 7 a.m. Aug. 26 and 6 p.m. Aug. 27, according to state police.

Sykesville area

Auto theft: A white 2000 Mazda 626 was stolen from the driveway of a home in the 6600 block of Mid Summer Night Court between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. Aug. 26, according to state police. The doors were locked, and the keys were in the center console.

Theft: A Sony digital camera and black nylon camera bag valued at $450 were stolen after someone broke out the rear window of a tan 2001 Chevrolet Malibu in the 6000 Oakland Mills Road between 8 p.m. Aug. 25 and 7:45 a.m. Aug. 26, according to state police.

Theft: A purse containing $50 was stolen from an unlocked white 2004 Ford Excursion while it was parked at Linton Springs Elementary School, in the 300 block Ronsdale Road, for a soccer tournament Aug. 20, according to state police.

Theft: A purse containing a cellular telephone, keys, a driver's license, credit cards and other items was stolen from a blue 1999 Ford Windstar at Oklahoma Road Middle School after the owner left it on the floor in a plastic shopping bag with a sweat shirt on top.

Theft: A black wallet, four Ravens tickets valued at $520 and $5 in change were stolen from an unlocked green 1996 Chrysler Cirrus parked in the driveway of a home in the 6400 block of Hickory Lane while the owners were on vacation between Aug. 12 and 20, according to state police.

Vandalism: Someone reportedly cut leaves off landscaped bushes and plants Aug. 23, causing about $100 in damage, at a home in the 5500 block of Irving Ruby Road, where the resident also has reported other nuisances such as doorbell ringing in the early morning, according to state police.

Theft: Miscellaneous items were taken from a Jeep at a home in the 6700 block of Carroll Highlands Road Aug. 25 or 26, according to the sheriff's office.

Theft: Someone stole a Maryland license plate, 802BDW, from a 1987 Chevrolet parked in the 1800 block of Fallstaff Court, according to the sheriff's office.

Union Bridge

Theft: Emblems were taken from a Jeep parked in the first block of Farquhar St. Aug. 25, according to the sheriff's office.

Vandalism: Side-view mirrors were broken and emblems stolen from two cars parked in the first block of Main St., according to the sheriff's office.

Woodbine

Burglary: A silver and blue non-motorized scooter and golf equipment including a bag, shoes, balls, glove and clubs, all valued at $1,260, were stolen from an open garage in the 1900 block of Heron Drive between Aug. 15 and 17, according to state police.

Westminster area

Burglary: A yellow Beamer scooter, valued at $2,000, was stolen from a shed at a home in the 1300 block of Old Washington Road between 5 p.m. Aug. 26 and 1 p.m. Aug. 27, according to state police.

Vandalism: Someone shattered the windows of two vehicles in the first block of Washington Lane between 10 p.m. Aug. 25 and 5:30 a.m. Aug. 26, causing about $400 damage, state police said.
