Red Sox update

The Red Sox are 6-1 on their current homestand after last night's 7-4 win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. They have won 19 of their past 20 at Fenway, including 14 in a row at one point, and are 44-19 at home, the best record in the majors. The defending World Series champions completed their 11th series sweep of the year last night. The Red Sox have won 24 of 33 games, and 28 of 40. Boston has posted a winning record in eight straight months, beginning in July 2004. But the Red Sox are only .500 in their division. The Orioles lead the season series 4-2 at Fenway Park this season. David Ortiz hit a walk-off home run off closer B.J. Ryan on June 2. Ortiz had five homers in five games before going hitless last night against the Devil Rays.
