Blue Jays update

Despite showing surprising staying power in the playoff race, the Blue Jays (65-65) are likely too far back at this point to feel too good about their chances. The Blue Jays are nine games behind the New York Yankees in the American League wild-card race. One big reason that they've hung around is their success at home and against the AL East. The Blue Jays are 35-27 at Rogers Centre and 27-22 against the AL East. Courtesy of a three-game sweep in Toronto in late April, the Orioles are 4-3 at Rogers Centre this season and 6-7 overall against the Blue Jays. Even without former Cy Young winner Roy Halladay for a good portion of the season, Toronto's pitching staff has held up. The team's 4.12 ERA is sixth in the league. The one-time leading hitter in the AL, Shea Hillenbrand is in a 1-for-13 slump.
