Hospital offering screenings, programs

Baltimore Washington Medical Center will offer these activities and screenings at various locations:

Red Cross offers CPR, first aid classes

Courses in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid have been scheduled for next month at sites in Anne Arundel County by American Red Cross of Central Maryland. They include:

Adult CPR, teaching emergency action principles, rescue breathing, anti-choking procedures and rescue for victims ages 8 and older. It is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 3, 6, 17, and 24 at sites to be announced and Sept. 24 at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Blvd., Severna Park. Cost: $37.

First Aid Basics, training participants to identify and care for victims of illness and sudden injuries. You will learn how to control bleeding, minimize the effects of shock, and care for musculoskeletal injuries and sudden illness due to heat and cold and other emergencies. This course does not include Adult CPR. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 10. Severna Park. Cost: $35.

Adult, Infant and Child CPR, comprehensive CPR course trains for CPR on adult, infant and child victims, including rescue breathing, clearing obstructed airway and one-rescuer CPR. The classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sept. 24 at locations to be announced. Cost: $42.
