Hospice of the Chesapeake sets bereavement retreat

Hospice of the Chesapeake's Spiritual and Bereavement Care Center announces its inaugural weekend Wabanaki Bereavement Retreat for adults from Anne Arundel County or Prince George's County who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

The retreat will be held from 5 p.m. Sept 16 to 2 p.m. Sept 18 at the Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center, 975 Indian Landing Road, Millersville. The retreat will have sessions for those whose loved ones died as a result of a homicide, suicide or vehicular accident. There is no charge for survivors of victims of violent crimes.

For all others, the fee is $125, which includes lodging and meals. Information and registration: 410-987-2129.

Unitarian Church concert to benefit cancer patient

A benefit concert will be held Sunday at Unitarian Universalist Church, 333 Dubois Road, Annapolis.

The concert will feature Janet Griffin, Nadine Rae & the Rich Chorne All Stars and Kathryn Gosnell with guests Big Joe and the Dynaflows, Jeff Sarli, LEA and others.

The funds raised will go toward the care of the family of Berry Griebel Sherman, who is undergoing treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

United Methodist Church to hold peach festival

The Wesley Grove United Methodist Church annual peach festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at 1320 Dorsey Road, Hanover. The festival will feature fresh peaches and peach desserts, a bake table, a local produce table and both inside dining and outside grills.
