Separate shootings take 2 lives in city

Two men were killed yesterday in separate shootings, city police said.

A man, whom police did not identify, was shot in the head and chest about 3 p.m. at Swale Avenue and Ascension Street in Cherry Hill, police spokesman Troy Harris said. He was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:24 p.m.

In another incident, a man was shot early yesterday near Patterson Park, police said.

The man, also not identified by police, was shot in the head about 3:20 a.m. inside a building in the 400 block of S. Collington Ave., Harris said. The man was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
