Carl Raymond Kronlage, 71, NSA employee

Carl Raymond Kronlage, a 38-year employee of the National Security Agency, died of lung cancer Aug. 8 at Howard County General Hospital. The Sykesville resident was 71.

Born in New Orleans, he was a 1952 graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans and earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Loyola University in Louisiana in 1956. He was in the Air Force for six months before he joined the NSA, where he worked as an electrical engineer for 38 years until his retirement in 1994.

In 1961, he married Yvonne M. Lescure, whom he met playing table tennis in Washington. Mr. Kronlage lived in Washington, Prince George's County and Columbia before moving to Sykesville in 1987.

Mr. Kronlage loved the outdoors and enjoyed tennis, golf and table tennis. A service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with visitation beginning an hour before the service.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kronlage is survived by a son, Curt Kronlage of Silver Spring; a daughter, Yvette Harris of Lisbon; a brother, Francis Kronlage of Louisiana; two sisters; Elaine Kronlage and Evelyn Roux, both of Louisiana; six grandchildren; and a step-grandson.
