1948: Fire company gets 2-way radio

During this month in 1948, the first two-way radio system was implemented for use by the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.

The system was on the Harford County Sheriff Department's frequency and was installed in the engines and ambulances.

All operators of communications equipment were required to have a special operator's license.
