Buffalo 3, Ottawa 1: Despite throwing six scoreless innings, Lynx starter Chuck Smith (0-4) suffered his third loss, giving up three earned runs in the bottom of the seventh. Ottawa dropped to 59-60, while the Bison improved to 65-54.

Double-A Eastern League

Bowie 5, Erie 4: Simon Pond went 2-for-4, including a three-run homer in the eighth, to lead the visiting Baysox past the Sea Wolves (59-60). Chris Ray earned his 17th save in 1 1/3 innings for Bowie (61-59).

Asheville 6, Delmarva 4 Greensboro 9, Hagerstown 7: The Suns (13-29) have lost five or more in a row for the third time in the second half. In the first half, their longest losing streak was four games. The Suns are now 1-5 on their current road trip, and have lost 15 of their 18 games. The Grasshoppers improved to 20-26.

Rookie Appalachian League

Bluefield 7, Princeton 5: Paul Winterling went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, two runs scored, a homer and a double for the host Orioles (22-25). The Devil Rays fell to 25-23.
