Annual Senior Expo to be held Aug. 11 at community college

Cecil Community College and the Cecil County Department of Aging will sponsor the third annual Senior Expo from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 11 in the Conference Center on the college's North East campus.

Jayne Miller of WBAL-TV will talk about "The New Face of Aging."

Presentations will include "Asset Preservation in Retirement," by Doug Ferris of Key Advisors Group; "Do I Need a Will?" by Allyn Price Nickle, Cecil County register of wills; and "How to Keep Fit and Eat Right," by Jim Tambasco of Healthy Lifestyles Fitness Center.

College offers adults accelerated degrees

Harford Community College has recently announced that adult students can earn degrees in HCCDirect, the college's new accelerated degree program designed for working adults and full-time parents.

The program offers courses in the evenings on campus and online. Courses in the accelerated format have the same academic content as those taught in a traditional semester but are delivered in shorter terms.

Accelerated degree programs are available in business administration and general studies, with a concentration in psychology, early childhood education and criminal justice.

@SUBHEDRegistration open for fall credit courses

Walk-in registration for fall credit courses at Harford Community College is open from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays through Sept. 3; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Aug. 8 through Sept. 10. Classes begin Sept. 6.

Students can also register by mail or fax through Sept. 3. Forms and information are included in the Schedule of Fall 2005 Credit Classes, available at the Welcome Center in the Student Center or at Online registration continues through Sept. 5.

Students can call the Advising, Career and Disability Services (410-836-4301) to make an appointment for a one-stop session or meet with an academic adviser. Those who have never attended the college or attended before spring 2003 should complete an application for enrollment before registering.

Cecil college accepting fall course registration

Cecil Community College is accepting registration for fall classes, which begin Aug. 31. Class schedules have been mailed to residents. Schedules also can be picked up at Elkton Station, 107 Railroad Ave., or at the North East campus, 1 Seahawk Drive.

Cecil Community College offers 43 associate degrees and 39 certificate programs.
