Around town

Road construction:

Single-lane closings on Gorman and Stephens roads, across from Stone Lake Drive, may be necessary between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays for a project to improve water distribution to the North Laurel area. The improvements, which are scheduled to be completed in late October, are deemed necessary to provide sufficient public water to meet projected needs for commercial use and fire protection in the southeast portion of the county.

Volunteers sought:

Montpelier Mansion is seeking volunteers who love history, beautiful homes or gardening and would like to meet interesting people. 301-953-1376.
