The Arc recognizes volunteer efforts at luncheon

The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region recognized volunteers at a recent luncheon at The Arc's center in Aberdeen.

The Arc offers services to children and adults with developmental disabilities in Harford and Cecil counties to help them make informed choices of lifestyle, vocation, education and recreational pursuits.

The Arc relies on volunteers for one-on-one friendships, and as family helpers, peer mentors, computer tutors and members of boards and committees.

Yard waste center to close during fair

The Tollgate yard waste drop-off site, across from the Harford County Equestrian Center off North Tollgate Road in Bel Air, will be closed Tuesday through Saturday during the Harford County Farm Fair, which will be at the equestrian center. The drop-off site will reopen Aug. 2.

While Tollgate remains closed, the Harford Waste Disposal Center's compost site in Street will be open to accept yard trim from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Board of Estimates postpones meeting

The Harford County Board of Estimates meeting set for tomorrow has been postponed. Board members are scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. Sept. 8 in the second-floor conference room at the Harford County Administrative Office Building, 220 S. Main St. in Bel Air.

The Harford County Environmental Advisory Board, which canceled its July 19 meeting, will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at the same location.
