Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Anne Arundel County.

Northern District

Arrests: The Anne Arundel County Police vice unit arrested three women for prostitution in Brooklyn during an undercover sting operation Tuesday. One of the women is from Hagerstown and the other two are from Baltimore.

Arrests: Detectives from the Northern District Tactical Patrol Unit charged two Glen Burnie men with four drug offenses after their car was searched during a traffic stop near Brooklyn on Wednesday. Police seized the 1998 silver Lexus, $1,400 worth of cocaine, $600 worth of crack cocaine and $1,200.

Arrest: A Baltimore man was arrested and charged with attempted burglary and destruction of property after someone threw a rock through the front window of a Maxway store on Hammonds Lane in Brooklyn on Tuesday. The store security video showed a man throwing a rock and leaving the scene. Police located the suspect near the scene.

Tobacco violations: Clerks at three stores on Ritchie Highway illegally sold cigarettes to an undercover 16-year-old girl July 15, police said. Police issued criminal citations to clerks at the X-Tra Mart in the 7200 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie and the Mobil station in the 5700 block of Ritchie Highway and the Shell station in the 5600 block of Ritchie Highway, both in Brooklyn Park.

Arson: A marked patrol car used by a Northern District police officer was set on fire outside the officer's Glen Burnie home Thursday. The fire was extinguished by police and firefighters. Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call the county fire marshal at 410-222-TIPS.


Arrest: An Edgewater man was arrested and charged with assault and shoplifting at the Shopper's Food Warehouse on Old Solomons Island Road on Monday. Employees of the store saw him take a few steaks from the store display, police said. When the man was confronted, he said he had paid for the food, then he said he brought the food in to return it to the store. The man tried to leave and struck one store employee, police said.

Burglary: Two bicycles worth $8,100 were stolen from a home on Third Street on July 14. Police found that a door to the house had been forced open.

Eastern District

Robbery: A woman from Arnold was in a restroom area of the Annapolis Mall on Tuesday when a man approached her from behind and hit her on the back of the neck with a hard object. The man said, "I need your money," then went through her pockets.

Western District

Accident: Two cars collided at the intersection of routes 100 and 170 in Severn on July 16. A thunderstorm had just passed through the area and a traffic light at the intersection was not working, police said. The people in one of the vehicles were taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore; people in the other car were taken to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Southern District

Arrests: A man and a woman were arrested on drug charges in Lothian on Monday. An officer on patrol at the Lyons Creek Mobile Estates recognized a man wanted for a handgun violation. Police stopped the car and searched the man, and found $670 worth of crack cocaine. He was arrested. Police also arrested the woman who was driving after they found marijuana in the vehicle.
