Devil Rays update
The Orioles have had plenty of problems at Tropicana Field, going just 29-31 there since it opened. However, the Orioles have beaten their American League East foe in five of six games this season, including taking two out of three in St. Petersburg in April. The two teams have not met since May 1, though Tampa Bay (32-64) has been struggling since Opening Day. They are 16 1/2 games back of fourth-place Toronto in the division, mostly because of pitching problems that have tested the patience of manager Lou Piniella. The Devil Rays' staff has a league-worst 5.76 ERA and has allowed 50 more earned runs than any other team in the AL and issued 57 more walks. Likely destined for last place, the Devil Rays could be active around the trade deadline with closer Danys Baez and Aubrey Huff, one of their best offensive players, attracting interest. Wade Boggs, days away from his Hall of Fame induction, will be honored by the Devil Rays tomorrow. -- Jeff Zrebiec
