On July 13, 2005, WILLIAM BAILEY CALVERT, 67, of Perryville, Maryland passed away after a brief illness at Union Hospital in Elkton, Maryland. Mr. Calvert was born on September 5, 1937, and was raised in Perryville. He attended the University of Baltimore undergraduate and law schools, and was admitted to the Maryland Bar, and began practicing law in Elkton and continued to do so until his death. He served in the United States Marine Reserves, and on the Democratic State Central Committee. He also served as the attorney for the Cecil County Commissioners for 16 years; and was subsequently appointed by then Governor Harry Hughes to the Maryland Tax Court, and was Chief Judge at the time of his death. He is survived by three children, Norie Calvert of Baltimore, Keith Calvert of Perryville, and Alan Affolter of Pennsylvania, and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Jerry Calvert, as well as five nieces and nephews. A celebration of Bill Calvert's life will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Minker Hall at the Perryville Volunteer Fire Company located at 920 Principio Road, with a gathering at 5:30 P.M. and services to begin at 6 P.M.
