Tip of the week: Preparing for an interview

Whenever I coach people on interviewing, there are three basic principles I concentrate on. First, you must be prepared. Make sure you research the company, the people you are interviewing with and try to determine how your background fits the job. Second, be positive. A prospective employer isn't concerned with what you have not accomplished; they want to know the value you will bring to the company. Last, and probably most important, is to market yourself. Pretend you are on a sales call and you are the product. Remember that no one knows the product better than you. Do not leave the interviewer wondering if you are a fit for the job.
