Twins update

The Twins have a half-game lead over the Orioles for the American League wild card, but they are 12 behind the Chicago White Sox in the Central Division. They've added second baseman Bret Boone, who had been 0-for-10 with his new team before collecting a run-scoring single Saturday to help erase a four-run deficit. The Twins' infield underwent more changes when second baseman Luis Rivas was optioned to Triple-A Rochester after Saturday's win. The move was needed to make room for Michael Cuddyer, who was called back from an injury rehabilitation assignment and activated from the disabled list. Rivas was the final regular infielder from the 2004 season left on the 25-man roster this season. The Twins rank second in the league in ERA but 11th in runs scored. They moved Shannon Stewart from leadoff to third Saturday for the first time.
