Police Blotter

Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from state and local police and sheriff's reports in Carroll County.


Vandalism: Four Michelin tires were punctured and the passenger side scratched on a white 2004 Hyundai Sonata between 9 p.m. June 30 and 6:45 a.m. July 1. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of a home in the 1400 block of Blackfoot Court, state police at the Westminster barracks said. Damage was estimated at $1,400.

Hampstead area

Burglary: Someone removed siding to make a hole in the roof of Greenmount Liquors in the 2200 block of Hanover Pike about 11:30 p.m. July 9. A surveillance system recorded a man falling through the drop ceiling to the floor, activating the alarm system, then getting a ladder and climbing back out through the roof, said Trooper Jeffery R. Eyler of the Westminster barracks. The next morning, $70 in damage was found to pieces of the ceiling, a gutter, yellow siding and plywood.


Burglary: About 50 pieces of body-piercing jewelry and a few dollars in change were stolen from the Sacred Symbols tattoo studio in the 200 block of Main St. after someone entered through a window with an air conditioner between 8 p.m. July 2 and 11 a.m. July 5, Trooper Richard M. Luzier said. Steel and acrylic barbells and hoops worth about $102 were missing from a showcase.

Mount Airy area

Vandalism: Three Brunswick teenagers riding all-terrain vehicles damaged the lawn outside the fence of the Mount Airy wastewater treatment plant on Ridge Road about 7 p.m. July 8, Trooper Paul V. Schur said. The area was rain-soaked, and ruts from the spin-outs and runs up and down a hill will require new seed and sod, estimated to cost less than $500. The three were charged as juveniles after one ATV stalled in a creek. They said they had ridden up the railroad tracks from Monrovia.

Theft: A wallet and contents valued at $250 were reported stolen June 30 from a vehicle parked at a home in the 3000 block of Michael Road, the Sheriff's Office said.

Theft: A plow was reported stolen from a vehicle at Hi-Lo Auto Sales on Ridge Road on Wednesday, the Sheriff's Office said.


Burglary: Tools and a former tenant's household goods were stolen from an unlocked shed behind a duplex in the 4600 block of London Bridge Road between noon July 5 and 9 p.m. July 6, according to Trooper Robert L. Griffin. The items, valued at $450, included a yellow Bostich and two Porter Cable air-powered nail guns. A neighbor said several ATVs had been in the area.

Union Bridge

Theft: A resident of the first block of N. Main St. reported $650 in cash missing July 5, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Westminster area

Burglary: A yellow leaf blower valued at $169 was reported stolen at 11 p.m. June 10 from an unlocked garage at a home in the 1900 block of Patricia Court, state police said. A brown sock was found hanging on the front door, followed by a second brown sock two days later.

Burglary: Someone smashed the front window of the Exxon station in the first block of Sullivan Road at 1:15 a.m. July 1 and took $300 cash and 10 cartons of cigarettes valued at $350, state police said. There was an estimated $500 damage to the window.

Theft: A UPS package with a Canon Power Shot digital camera, a Sandisk card and case was reported missing July 8 from the front door of a home in the 1000 block of Valen Road, state police said, although records showed it was delivered about 5:30 p.m. July 6. The victim said the package was to have been left at the rear door, out of view of those who cut through his yard en route to an ice cream shop.

Theft: A brown leather wallet, credit cards, CDs, a $100 bill and change were reported stolen between 4:30 p.m. July 10 and 8:30 a.m. July 11 from three unlocked vehicles in a driveway and on the road in front of homes in the 200 and 300 block of Montpelier Court, state police said. The vehicles were a red 2004 Chevrolet LS2500, a red 2001 Dodge Ram and a black 2001 Ford F-350.


Vandalism: Someone damaged a flag and a green at the Wakefield Valley golf course on Fenby Farm Road, a report by an employee to the Sheriff's Office said. Damage was estimated at $400.

Shoplifting: A suitcase and other items valued at $26 were reported stolen about 10 p.m. July 9 from the Wal-Mart store, Westminster police said.

Theft: A Minolta camera and a pair of sunglasses valued at $400 were reported stolen from a table at Martin's of Westminster in the Route 140 Village shopping center at 8:33 p.m. June 29, police said.
