Tip of the week: Recruiting workers

Recruitment starts with having an "Employment Brand" that makes top talent want to come to work for your organization. Recruitment should be integrated with an overall unified talent strategy that covers the human capital life cycle. Offer incentives for employees to make referrals and help them to do it well by providing good information. As you consider applicants, look beyond job titles, history and education to skill sets, accomplishments, thinking, judgment, problem solving and other issues through use of strong behavioral interviewing skills. Don't let the demands and pace derail you from taking the time to carefully assess for fit as well as skills and to do background checks. It may take a little longer, but the results will be worth it. Take time each year to enhance your interviewing skills.
