Last week, The Sun asked Anne Arundel County readers for their views on whether the county has a problem with hate crimes, and whether the measures recommended by county leaders were an appropriate response.

Hate-crime problems still exist in county

We definitely have a problem with hate crimes. And the response certainly should take into account the wisdom gained by the city and county human relations commissions when they jointly sponsored speakers from the Southern Poverty Law Center a couple of years ago. The SPLC, located in Birmingham, Ala., is the nation's leading expert on hate crimes.
