Dumler, Edna Grace Shermer

EDNA GRACE SHERMER DUMLER, 98, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Oak Lea Nursing Home in Harrisonburg, VA. She was born July 29, 1906 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of the late James Roland and Edna Virginia Robbins Shermer. Mrs. Dumler graduated from high school in Washington, D.C. and worked as an accountant at Southern Dairies earlier in her life. For many years she served as a volunteer for the Women's Auxiliary Association at both the University of Maryland and St. Agnes Hospitals in Baltimore. She moved to Harrisonburg in September of 2003 from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church. On October 29, 1934 she married Dr. John Charles Dumler, Sr. who preceded her in death on March 20, 2005. Surviving are one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Helmick of Elkridge, Maryland, one son, Dr. John Charles Dumler, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Harrisonburg, one daughter, Jane Lyles and husband Bobby of Naples, FLA., three grandsons, John C. Dumler, III, Michael L. Dumler and David M. Dumler, and seven great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Baltimore at a later time, and memorial services will be announces later. Memorial donations may be made to Oak Lea Nursing Home Compassion Fund, 1475 Virginia Avenue, Harrisonburg, VA 22802. Arrangements by The Kyger Funeral Home of Harrisonburg.
