Bayhawks tonight

Matchup: Bayhawks (5-0) at Long Island Lizards (3-2)

Site: Mitchel Athletic Complex, Uniondale, N.Y.

Time: 8

TV: ESPN2 (tape delay, July 5, 4 p.m.)

Outlook: With 50 goals in five games, the Bayhawks' prolific attack trio of Gary Gait, Tom Marechek and Mikey Powell might finally find a match in the Long Island Lizards' heralded defense. The Lizards' starting defensemen -- Pat McCabe, John Gagliardi and Nicky Polanco -- were selected for the U.S. men's national team and three-time Major League Lacrosse Goalie of the Year Greg Cattrano has hit his stride, holding the Philadelphia Barrage to just 12 goals Saturday, while picking up 16 saves. Still, the Lizards should have their hands full with the Bayhawks' offense that is averaging a league-leading 23.2 points per game and winning by an average margin of 12.2 goals. The Bayhawks' goalie, Trevor Tierney, named MLL Defensive Player of the Week for his 20 saves last week, will attempt to neutralize the Lizards' Blake Miller, whose six goals and one assist earned him Offensive Player of the Week honors.
