Yankees update

It might be time for owner George Steinbrenner to issue another statement. His team had lost four games in a row and five of six before winning last night, failing to take advantage of the Orioles' skid. The Yankees are 14-19 on the road this season and two players in the top 10 in hitting in the American League: Alex Rodriguez (.338), and Derek Jeter (.310). The rotation has been hurt by injuries to Kevin Brown and Jaret Wright that put them on the disabled list. Pavano left one start against the Orioles after being hit by a line drive and allowed seven runs (three earned) over 5 2/3 innings in another. The Orioles swept the Yankees in a three-game series at Camden Yards in April after taking two of three in the Bronx.
