JOEL STEPHEN SHAPIRO, of Virginia Beach, Virginia and of Boca Raton, Florida, died, June 23, 2005, at his home in Florida. Mr. Shapiro was born in Norfolk, the son of the late Sydney H. Shapiro and Hanna Kaplan Shapiro. He was a member of Beth El Temple in Norfolk and the Virginia State Bar. Mr. Shapiro was an attorney with Shapiro and Zaleski, Attorneys at Law. He was also the President of First American Title of Tidewater, Inc. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Abeloff Shapiro, his son, Price M. Shapiro of Virginia Beach, his daughter, Stacey Ceil Shapiro of Baltimore, Maryland, his brother, Rand E. Shapiro and his wife Lisa Brundage Shapiro of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Boca Raton, Florida, two nephews, Shane A. Shapiro and his wife Lori Shapiro and their daughter, Ella Reece Shapiro, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and Jared Shapiro and his fiance' Erica Korman of New York, New York, his sister in law, Judy Blum of Tamarac, Florida, his niece, Ricki Farber and her husband Aaron Zitner and their children, Emily and Nathaniel, all of Bethesda, Maryland, his niece, Jody B. Franko, her children and her husband Tom Franko, of Floyd, Virginia, his niece, Barbara Lynn Seymour, her children and her husband Ritch Seymour of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and his niece, Trish Smith and her husband Merritt of California. A funeral service will be conducted 3:30 P.M. Sunday June 26, 2005, at Congregation Beth El in Norfolk by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk. The family will receive friends at 4004 Oceanfront Avenue, Virginia Beach, Virginia, The Oceans Condominium, following the funeral service and on Monday and Tuesday. Oliver Funeral Apartments Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements.
