Anna G. Garmer, 81, homemaker, churchwoman

Anna G. Garmer, a homemaker and churchwoman, died of cancer Wednesday at her Ellicott City home. She was 81.

Anna Grace Kalb was born and raised in Highlandtown and graduated in 1942 from Patterson High School.

Since 1965, when she moved to Ellicott City, Mrs. Garmer was an active communicant of the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection there. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America.

She enjoyed traveling, camping and crocheting.

A funeral Mass was offered Saturday at her church.

Mrs. Garmer is survived by her husband of 61 years, William H. Garmer; four sons, Robert M. Garmer of Archdale, N.C., William J. Garmer of Pasadena, Donald E. Garmer of Virginia Beach, Va., and John E. Garmer of Tannersville, Pa.; two daughters, Teresa L. Green of Lancaster, Pa., and Carolyn G. Rowe of Laurel; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Jean Marie Gray, died in 2001.
