June 18, 2005

A 23-year-old Virginia man was killed and an Alabama man seriously injured in a crash yesterday on Interstate 70 near New Market, state police said.

Donald Duckett Jr., 41, of Prattville, Ala., was flown by helicopter to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. The name of the Virginia man was not released.

Witnesses told police that the Virginia man was driving a 1986 Toyota truck at high speeds eastbound on I-70 at about 5:20 p.m. yesterday when he crossed the median.

The Toyota was struck by Duckett's minivan and two other vehicles. Those drivers were not injured.
