Rockies update

The Rockies, who lost to the Indians, 2-1, last night and were swept in their three-game series in Cleveland, own a major league-worst 21-43 overall record and a 4-26 road mark. Shortstop Clint Barmes, who had established himself as the favorite for National League Rookie of the Year with a .329 batting average, is likely out for at least three months after fracturing his left collarbone in a fall last week while carrying a pack of deer meat up some of stairs. After hitting .347 with 32 homers and 96 RBIs last year and hitting at least .315 the previous seven seasons, perennial All-Star first baseman Todd Helton is batting .252 with five homers and 25 RBIs. Outfielder Preston Wilson, often mentioned as a potential Orioles trade target, leads the Rockies with 11 home runs. Entering yesterday, Colorado's pitching staff had the worst ERA (5.77) in the majors.
