Maritime Museum

A block-long building on Fells Point's waterfront has gone from barn to factory and now celebrates its second year as the Fells Point Maritime Museum. In commemoration of its second anniversary, the museum has planned a weekend of events.

For half-price admission, visitors will be treated to guided tours, photo displays and interactive stations. The stations examine the historic and significant people and boats that helped to build Baltimore's reputation as a major maritime center. There will also be Chesapeake Bay-themed food, a discount at the gift shop and a birthday cake on Sunday.

The celebration will be on Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Fells Point Maritime Museum, 1724 Thames St. Admission is $2 for adults, $1.50 for children 13-17, seniors and students with ID, and children 12 and under are free. Call 410-732-0278.

Bark in the Park

Canines of all stripes (or spots or solids) can come out and play with their owners, other dogs and people at the 12th annual Bark in the Park Saturday.

The event, sponsored by the Baltimore County Humane Society, will include a 20-yard dash, hide and seek and a treasure hunt. There will be demonstrations by a canine dance troupe, a K-9 unit, live music, even a ceremony to bless the dogs. Dogs' best friends can get in on the action and learn about such services as acupuncture and water therapy for their pets, can have a photograph taken with their dogs and can sample vegetarian and baked goods.

The event is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, at the Humane Society of Baltimore County at 1601 Nicodemus Road, Reisterstown. Admission is $5 per person, and $10 for the first dog and $7 for all additional dogs. Children under 12 are admitted with the donation of pet food or supplies. Call 410-833-2387.

Dog Days of Summer

The second annual Dog Days of Summer is at Port Discovery this Saturday. Many dogs will be on display from the SPCA and Pets on Wheels and rescue groups. Demonstrations and lectures are scheduled every half hour.

Saturday's event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Port Discovery, 35 Market Place. Admission is $11 for ages 13 and up, $8.50 for ages 3-12 and free for children under 3. Call 410-864-2685 or visit www.portdiscovery.org.
