The Orioles have agreed to terms with Brandon Snyder, their first round selection in last week's 2005 First-Year Player Draft. Snyder, 18, a catcher from Westfield High School in Centreville, Va., was the 13th overall selection in the draft.

Snyder batted .547 (29-53) with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs and 29 RBI for Westfield this season. He split part of his senior season between shortstop and catcher.

He was ranked as the third best pure hitter among all high school players by Baseball America. He was named as the Player of the Year by the Washington Post this past season and signed a letter of intent with Louisiana State University.

Snyder will work out with the Orioles this afternoon and then meet with the media.
