HCC artisans attend conference on restoration

Faculty and students of Harford Community College's Building Preservation and Restoration Program attended a trades demonstration last month during the 2005 Preservation Maryland Revitalization and National Trust's Main Street Conference at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore.

Students from the stained-glass restoration and carpentry courses demonstrated their skills.

Covered Bridge players to present comedy

The Covered Bridge Theatre Company will present the comedy Lend Me A Tenor at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and June 24 and 25, and at 3 p.m. June 19 and 26, at Cecil Community College's Milburn Stone Memorial Theatre.

Tickets are $12 to $19, and can be purchased by phone (410-287-1037), at the Cultural Center box office, or online at www.cecilcc.edu/theater. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Imagination Theatre accepting registration

Harford Community College will offer summer sessions of Harford Imagination Theatre, for youth entering grades two to 12 who are interested in creative dramatic training.

The sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 27 through Aug. 4 in the college's Fallston Hall.

Instruction will be offered in auditioning skills, voice, dance and body movement, acting and projection, costuming, makeup and improvisation, as well as set construction, lighting, props and special effects. Students will have an opportunity to participate in a production for a "Family Finale," to be held the last Thursday of the 20-session program.

Students can register by mail, fax the form included in the Schedule of Noncredit Classes mailed to Harford residents, or register in person at Edgewood Hall from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday. Online registration: www.harford.edu.

John Carroll soccer team to hold fund-raiser June 24

The John Carroll School varsity girls soccer team, ranked sixth in the nation, will hold a bull and shrimp feast from 7 p.m. to midnight June 24 at the Jarrettsville Gardens Fire Hall.

A disc jockey, a Big 6 wheel, a plant wheel and other attractions are planned. Tickets are $37, and include beer, wine, setups, buffet dinner, dessert and coffee. Proceeds will help pay for the team's participation in a Labor Day weekend tournament in New Jersey.

Walk-in registration for fall credit courses at Harford Community College is open from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays through Sept. 3; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Aug. 8 through Sept. 10. 410-836-4222.

Registration:

Cecil Community College is accepting registration for summer- and fall-session classes. Summer classes begin tomorrow and the fall session begins Aug. 31. Registration for summer classes closes at 8 p.m. June 20. Class schedules have been mailed to residents. Schedules also can be picked up at Elkton Station, 107 Railroad Ave. or at the North East campus, 1 Seahawk Drive. Cecil Community College offers 43 associate degrees and 39 certificate programs. 410-287-1000.

College Information and Career Advising Session

will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cecil Community College's Elkton Station, 107 Railroad Ave. The free workshop is open to the public. Advisers from the college's credit and noncredit programs will talk to prospective students about training programs, workplace-readiness classes, lifelong-learning resources and financial aid. 410-287-6060, ext. 641.
