During portions of the season when the Lakers rotated two goalies, the Ohio State-bound senior's poise helped to smooth transitions.

A three-sport athlete with excellent speed and mobility, Matthews could adjust to runs from sideline to sideline, all the while remaining a stabilizing defensive force.
