Performer of the Year

Tim Wunderlich, North Carroll

After claiming a state crown in the pole vault last year, the senior doubled his gold medal collection this spring.

Wunderlich, the county's Performer of the Year in indoor and outdoor track the past two years, registered first-place outings in the discus with a throw of 145 feet and the pole vault with a height of 13 feet at the Class 3A state championships.

He scored victories in the long jump (21-8), shot put (49-5) and discus (133-4) at the county championships before capturing the high jump (6-3) and pole vault (11-0) at the West regional meet.

Coach of the Year

Joel Pechart, Bowling Brook Prep

The Thoroughbreds announced their presence on the track scene by claiming the Falcon Invitational, upending three then-top 10 teams.

Bowling Brook Prep also won the Talley-Zimmerman Invitational at Walkersville and the Sonny Sheppard Relays in Hanover, Pa. The No. 7 Thoroughbreds also placed second at the Hedgesville/Journal and West Central Coaches invitationals in Martinsburg, W.Va., and Altoona, Pa., respectively.
