All-county Softball

Carroll

Player of the Year

Stacy Davis, Westminster

The senior right-hander was the most dominant player in Carroll County, going 12-2 with a county-low 0.69 ERA and 92 strikeouts.

Despite not being blessed with the long arms or legs of the prototypical fire-baller, Davis displayed an overpowering fastball and solid riseball. Her efforts helped lead the Owls back to the state final four for the second year in a row.

Coach of the Year

Byron Moore, Westminster

Despite losing seven starters to graduation, Moore's squad finished 17-5 and captured a share of the county title before winning the Class 4A North title.

More than the number of victories, however, it was the quality of wins that made this season particularly special for the Owls, including an 8-1 win over the Institute of Notre Dame, which finished the season ranked No. 5, and a 4-0 victory over powerful Francis Scott Key.
