Gerome Jones, Digital Harbor

The senior went undefeated in the shot put, setting meet records at the Woodlawn Warrior Invitational (57 feet, 2 1/4 inches), Freddie Hendricks Track Festival (54- 1/4 ), Father Judge Relays (56-6 1/4 ) and Howard County Spring Track Classic (54-7).

He claimed both the shot put (54-5 1/4 ) and discus (146-11 1/2 ) at the city championships, setting records in both.

After taking the shot put at the Class 1A South regional meet, Jones set a Class 1A state record when he registered a throw of 58-7 1/2 .

Coaches of the Year

The No. 9 Rams had a postseason to remember. After finishing second to eventual Class 3A state champion Mervo at the city championships, Digital Harbor captured the Class 1A South regional crown.

The biggest prize, however, was the Class 1A state title, which became the school's first such honor in outdoor or indoor track and field.
