The girl, believed to be between 8 months and 2 years, is in the custody of Child Protective Services and has been placed in foster care.

Representatives from the Baltimore Department of Social Services are planning to go to Baltimore City Circuit Court today to obtain a judge's order to formally place the girl in the department's care and to get authorization to release a photograph of the girl to the media.

"We're hoping that somebody will identify her, maybe someone has been away from home for the weekend," said Sue Fitzsimmons, a spokeswoman for the Baltimore Department of Social Services.

The girl was found Saturday morning in the 100 block of N. Wolfe St. She was in a stroller and wearing a pink-and-white hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans, and her hair was braided.
