Elsie A. Asti, a retired administrative assistant, died of cancer Saturday at her longtime Pasadena home. She was 82.
Elsie Aileen Sincavage was born and raised in Shenandoah, Pa. After graduating from business school in Philadelphia, she took a job at the Philadelphia Naval Yard during the early days of World War II.
In 1959, she moved to Severna Park and took a job as an administrative assistant at the Naval Sea Systems Command's plant equipment support office. She retired in 1989.
"She enjoyed mentoring the young women who worked for her. She created a network that encouraged them to further their education and advancement. And she liked helping them with their problems," said daughter Alison L. Asti of Pasadena.
She was married for 54 years to Andrew Paul Asti, an acoustical engineer who died in 1996.
A communicant of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Pasadena, Mrs. Asti enjoyed boating, gardening and spending time with her three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held yesterday in Severna Park.
Survivors include another daughter, Andrea L. Asti of Warwick, N.Y.; and two sisters, Estelle Parker and Pauline Kline, both of Harrisburg, Pa,
