Bay Blues Festival

A long list of musicians play this weekend at the Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival at Sandy Point State Park near Annapolis. Highlights include Isaac Hayes on Saturday night and Booker T and the MG's with Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn on Sunday night. There will also be food and an arts and crafts village. Take beach chairs, towels and a tube of sunblock.

The festival is 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $50 for one day or $75 for both days in advance, and $60 for one day or $85 for both days if purchased at the gate. Sandy Point State Park is on U.S. 50 at the western end of the Bay Bridge, near Annapolis. For a full list of musicians, visit www.bayblues.org.

Wing it

Watch maybe the first-ever cockroach race at the Wild Wings, Fairies & Things Festival at the Carrie Murray Nature Center on Saturday. The daylong festival is dedicated to all creatures with wings. Visitors can inspect the insect zoo and various birds of prey and winged mammals, including ravens and bats. There will be "real" fairies, magic-wand makers and vendors selling jewelry and stained glass. Everyone is doused with glitter before they enter.

The festival is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5 a person. The Carrie Murray Nature Center is at 1901 Ridgetop Road. Call 410-396- 0808.

Roller skating show

Watch the truly coordinated do lifts, jumps and spirals at Gardenville Recreation Center's annual roller skating show. Participants are ages 5 to 21 and will don costumes and skate to fast-paced music at the indoor rink.

Gardenville Recreation Center is at 4517 Hazelwood Ave. The shows are at 7 p.m. tomorrow, 7 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $3-$5. Call 410-545-3444.
