COMING UP

Perhaps you come for the lemon-peppermint sticks. Or maybe the ugly-tie contest. Or maybe the maypole dancing. Whatever the incentive, you're so there -- at the annual Flower Mart. Because, well, it's so Baltimore, and you love it. This year's Flower Mart, Wednesday in Mount Vernon, features the usual goodies, including the exotic flower and plant shows, the fantasy hair contest, the food court, the kids' activities and more. And this year, they're even adding a free concert in the park at 6 p.m.

The 88th annual Flower Mart takes place 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Vernon Plaza, around the Washington Monument. Rain date May 19. Free. Call 410-323-0022 or visit www.flowermart.org.
