Sophomore attack Drew Westervelt scored three of his four goals in the first quarter last night, as visiting UMBC defeated Albany, 9-8, to win the America East regular-season crown outright and gain the No. 1 seed in next week's postseason tournament.
In a game that proved to be the regular-season title game, UMBC jumped out to a 3-1 lead and scored three consecutive goals in the second half to push the lead to 8-3.
Albany (8-5, 5-1) rallied in the fourth period and outscored UMBC 4-1, cutting the Retrievers' lead to 9-8 with 1:37 left to play, but UMBC (7-7, 5-1) hung on to win.
No 5. Cornell 11, No. 20 Brown 6: Kevin Nee had four goals and two assists as the visiting Big Red (9-2, 6-0) completed its perfect Ivy League season.

Loyola 15, Hobart 11: Greg Leonard's three goals led 10 scorers for the Greyhounds (5-7, 4-2 ECAC) in a win over the visiting Statesmen (7-6, 2-4).
Mount St. Mary's 14, Manhattan 11: Tilghman Herring had two goals and three assists to lead the Mount (7-8, 6-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) past the host Jaspers (7-6, 6-2).
Wesley 13, Villa Julie 11: Mark Skakle scored five goals and added an assist to lead the visiting Wolverines (8-5, 5-1 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference) past the Mustangs (9-4, 4-2).
McDaniel 14, Muhlenburg 1: The Green Terror (6-8, 3-5 Centennial) honored its graduating seniors and presented a No. 24 jersey to the parents of sophomore Matt Cowdrey, who died in a January boating accident, before beating the visiting Mules (7-9, 0-8).

No. 10 Penn State 9, No. 11 Johns Hopkins 8: All-American goalkeeper Lee Tortorelli stopped Lauren Schwarzmann's free-position shot with two seconds remaining to help the Nittany Lions (11-4, 4-1 American Lacrosse Conference) hang on to beat the host Blue Jays (10-5, 3-3).
Mary Key had two goals and two assists to lead Hopkins.
No. 4 Princeton 17, Brown 5: Lindsey Biles had five goals and Ingrid Goldberg added two goals and three assists to lead the host Tigers (12-3, 6-1 Ivy) over the Bears (3-10, 1-5).
