Devil Rays update

Tampa Bay continues to be dogged by inconsistency. Over the weekend, it took two out of three from the reigning world champion Boston Red Sox and then went on the road and was outscored 22-11 in a three-game sweep at the Toronto Blue Jays, whom the Orioles just swept on the road. With a fourth straight loss yesterday afternoon, the Devil Rays fell to 8-14, 6 1/2 games behind the first-place Orioles. The Orioles took two out of three at Tampa Bay earlier this month, and the Devil Rays are an American League-worst 1-7 on the road. Speedy leadoff man Carl Crawford is the catalyst for the Tampa Bay offense and he also leads the team with 16 RBIs. Crawford, Eduardo Perez and Jorge Cantu are the home run leaders with three apiece.
