McHarg's six goals carry Loyola women past Towson, 12-9

Sophomore midfielder Kate McHarg's game-high six goals powered visiting Loyola past Towson, 12-9, in a nonconference women's lacrosse game last night.

McHarg started the scoring with a free-position goal 1:33 into the game. The Tigers and the Greyhounds traded goals over the next eight minutes until they were tied 2-2 at 19:14 on a converted free-position attempt by Towson's Becky Trumbo.

The Greyhounds then went on a 4-0 run in the second half to give Loyola (5-9) a 10-5 lead and put the game out of reach for the Tigers (11-5). Maura Kenny, Emily Lawrence, Kate Filipelli and Sydney Greene all scored in that span for Loyola.

Trumbo led Towson with three goals. Amy Middleton and Caitlin Marshall added two each.

Salisbury 26, Washington College 5: The Sea Gulls (13-0), the top-ranked team in Division III, defeated the host Shorewomen (3-14) behind a balanced scoring attack in which 14 players scored.

Sue Ackermann scored a game-high four goals. Natalie Degele finished with two goals and a game-high five assists.

No. 4 Princeton 16, No. 17 Delaware 3: The Tigers' Olachi Apara's game-high four goals led the Tigers (11-3) past the Blue Hens (8-6) for the 16th straight time.

Ten Princeton players scored. For Delaware, Kristin Cellucci, Megan Hager and Casey McCrudden each scored a goal.
