Teen driving is the focus of program

April 24, 2005

HC DrugFree, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping teens avoid alcohol and other drugs, and the Centennial High School PTSA will co-sponsor a program, "Safe and Sober Driving," from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the school.

Alcohol is involved in almost half of all motor vehicle accidents that kill teenagers. The incidence of alcohol-related and drug-related crashes increases during prom season.

A Maryland Shock Trauma Center nurse and a mother of a teenager who died in an alcohol-related crash will discuss the dangers of drinking, drugs and driving, and offer insight into how parents can help teen drivers and passengers stay safe.
