Health fair scheduled in Town Center

The Columbia Association, with Howard County General Hospital, the Howard County Health Department and the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, will sponsor a health fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the lakefront area of Town Center.

The fair will include free health screenings, information on health issues, demonstrations of exercise activities and equipment, activities for children, entertainment and food.

Around Town

Yard sale: Town Center Community Association will sponsor its Town Center Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Vantage Point Park on Vantage Point Road. Reservations are required. 410-730-4744.

Seeking artisans, vendors: Wilde Lake Community Association is seeking artisans to participate in its juried craft fair, part of the Taste of Wilde Lake, to be held from noon to 4 p.m. May 21 in the village center. The event will include free food, entertainment and children's activities. The cost for vendors is $10 a space. 410-730-3987.

Parent workshop: Alianza de la Comunidad, an organization for the Howard County Hispanic community, will offer a program for Spanish-speaking parents of children ages 2 to 12 at 5:45 p.m. Monday at Running Brook Elementary School. Funding for the workshop is provided by the Horizon Foundation. 443-812-8486.

Making music: Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will sponsor an eight-week class focused on the health benefits of music-making, "The Secret Power of Music," from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesdays, starting April 26, at the Bain Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way. The program, which includes group drumming and appreciation of American popular music, is sponsored through a Horizon Foundation Community Health Issues Grant. Admission is free. Arts camps: Slayton House Camp of the Arts is accepting registration for children ages 7 to 13. A junior conservatory for ages 11 to 13 and a senior conservatory for ages 14 to 16 are also available. Classes will culminate in a production. 410-730- 3987.
