Dinner program planned for Harford, Cecil nurses

District 7 of the Maryland Nurses Association will hold a dinner for nurses in Harford and Cecil counties May 12 at Vitali's Restaurant, 1709 Edgewood Road, Edgewood.

Registration is 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the dinner and program are 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $25 for Maryland Nurses Association members and $30 for nonmembers. The program is "On the Wings of Angels." Jennifer Kirby, vice commander of the Aero Medical Evacuation Squadron, Delaware Air National Guard, and vice president of Patient Care Services, chief nursing officer at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, will discuss a typical day of a flight nurse while deployed, types of missions nurses fly, and the care of the men and women in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Prodoehl named to head local medical association

Dr. John A. Prodoehl, an orthopedic surgeon, has been named president of the Harford County Medical Association for the 2005-2006 term.

Prodoehl has also been honored as physician of the year at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace.

Prodoehl practices surgery in Havre de Grace and Bel Air.

Domestic violence center offers volunteer training

The Sexual Assault/Spouse Abuse Resource Center Inc., Harford County's service provider for domestic and sexual violence victims, will hold a 30-hour volunteer training sessions beginning May 31.

SARC, a private nonprofit agency, provides these sessions for all new volunteers and staff, training them in the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, and basic techniques in crisis response.

SARC is seeking volunteers to help provide services, particularly in connection with the agency's 24-hour Helpline. Days and times of volunteer shifts are flexible.
